NAME: Hakima Thorne
Nicknames: Hakima. And that will do, thank you very much.
GENDER: Female
AGE: Young adult
SPECIES: (Corsac) fox
RANK: Pupil (at the University of Meta)
EYE COLOR: Yellow
FUR COLOR: Pale brown
ELEMENTS: Hakima wields no elements
DESCRIPTION: Hakima wanted to be a scientist, but lacked the intellect. However she makes a point of always dressing smartly- with some kind of coat, clean pressed shirt and cravat, as well as a hat (sometimes with a feather in it!) to project an image of nobility. In her mind, she also believes that it helps her to look like an intellectual, although not everyone may interpret it this way.
Hakima's eyes and fur and yellow eyes are quite pale, with her fur even fading to white in some places. She has a patch of fur of a darker pigment (mid brown) on her left shoulder, but this is usually covered by her clothing, and she thus has no especially distinguishing features visible. The most memorable thing about her appearance is likely to be the way she dresses.
PERSONALITY: Hakima aspired to the College of Valliss, where she hoped to train in bioferrous fusing. She was rejected, but thankfully she is a talented (and reasonably keen) writer. There was therefore a place for her at the College of Meta. She would have much preferred Valliss, though- she had high aspirations.
Hakima is not the smartest fox, but she certainly has a smart tongue. She defends herself with witty, often cutting remarks; although this is generally only when she is in uncomfortable situations or ones which she is not accustomed to. Around people she knows under ordinary circumstances, Hakima finds it easier to be herself. Although she does of course feel the pressure of a society in which intelligence and magic are prized- how could she not? She has no magic, and in her darker moments she views herself as being utterly stupid. She counts herself lucky to have avoided the military, and thinks this may be solely because of her writing skills. In truth, it is rapidly becoming apparent that she has skills besides these, but her earlier viewpoint still remains- for now.
Hakima is a lot more confident than one would think. She knows that she will always have security, even if only because of her writing- anything is better than the army, after all! People who are smarter than her, especially if they made it to Valliss, do tend to get to her. However, if anything, she will attempt to project herself as being even more confident to try and intimidate them. Hakima is tall (or long, seeing as we're talking about foxes here...) and, although she is slim; her powerful voice and commanding dress sense allow her to be quite intimidating when she so wishes. She has recently begun to dabble in oratory, and finds some pleasure in it; although not as much as she once found in contemplating the possibilities of bioferrous engineering.
Hakima does not react well to being humiliated or otherwise embarrassed, but she isn't generally a vengeful character. She may get annoyed, yes, and lash out or bluntly reject the offender in the short term; but she'll get over it eventually once she realises that everyone else has moved on.
HISTORY: Hakima Thorne, eldest child of Dalia Thorne and Alexander Thorne, was raised in a life of luxury, as her parents are both reasonably influential foxes (her father is a professor within the College of Valliss and her mother a doctor within that same college). Although she learned to walk and talk at a young age, she is probably no more intelligent now than an average fox of her age.
Hakima quickly developed a love of science and, in particular, bioferrous science. Due to it being such an obscure field, there was limited initial information she could obtain on the subject, but she persevered and researched as much as she could in preparation for applying to the College of Valiss. Unfortunately, although she found the subject interesting indeed, she couldn't remember as much about it as she would have needed to in order to enter the college. That, and her previous grades weren't too grand. A rejection letter was inevitable- however, Hakima still retains an interest in bioferrous science, and eagerly laps up any new developments she hears about in this field.
It was her father who encouraged her to apply for the College of Meta when Hakima got rejected from Valliss. Hakima was terrified that she would be drafted into the military- even though her parents did their best to assure her that no such thing would happen. Hakima hates violence- or, more accurately, the thought of violent things happening to her. She feels that she has a low pain threshold, due in part to some childhood experiences involving falling off things, and that it would not take much to make her lose her dignity in battle, if such an event were to occur. That, and she does not want to get dirty. Or killed. She tries to tell herself that she wants to avoid the army because it is below her, however, as this seems to be a much more respectable stance.
It could be said that what Hakima is looking for in life is some "safe adventure". She wants excitement, but she also wants to be safe. Hence bioferrous fusing and writing- the latter allows her to chase up interesting stories and interview the most influential and fascinating individuals.
EQUIPMENT: Hakima always dresses her best, even if she is only planning on hanging around her room at the College. She is very stylish, in a somewhat old fashioned way. Waistcoats, tailcoats, cravats or ties, and hats! She simply adores impressive hats, and could easily walk out wearing only a lovely bowler with a handful of coloured feathers in it.
Well not exactly, as she is not quite that confident. She would still prefer to be wearing her customary attire, as this is more likely to draw attention to her.
She also has a fondness for a little bit of lace, especially on her gloves. One of the disadvantages of being a quadruped is that her gloves can get slightly grubby, but thankfully she is sensible enough to wear dark colours to make this less noticeable.
RELATIONSHIPS: Her parents are Alexander Thorne and Dalia Thorne. Unless somebody else would like to roleplay them, I will just mention them when they are conversing with Hakima or whatever.
She may or may not have siblings- any takers?
