NAME: Kasai Levhart Fenikso
GENDER: Female.
AGE: Adult.
SPECIES: Feline. African leopard, though she looks like she may have some lion in her.
RANK: The Captain of the Great Phoenix.
EYE COLOR: Azure.
FUR COLOR: The base of the pelt is a dark tan while the rosettes are ginger and brown. Her belly, paw tips, inner ear fur, muzzle, cheeks and the areas around her eyes are cream-colored. Her ears and nose bridge are ginger like the outer parts of her rosettes, but her tail tip is black.
ELEMENTS: Dark fire. She enjoys manipulating fire and smoke, but is still in the learning process. Her dominion over negative emotions is more advanced, for she uses them to her advantage in battle, causing trepidation and sadness in those she battles with to discourage them.
DESCRIPTION: A large but graceful leopardess, lean with a powerful build - many believe her to be a lipard (lion/leopardess hybrid), but she insists that she is just a leopard. Her tail is long, and it is often carried with a curl in the end the way most leopards do. The tops of her hocks and elbows have extended fur on them, and growing from her head and halfway down her neck grows longer, ginger hair, which is slightly curled on the ends; part of her hair hangs down on the right side of her face, covering her eye sometimes. All-in-all, she’s an attractive feline, but her heart is not easily won over.
PERSONALITY: Kasai is greatly infamous among her victims, but greatly renowned and feared by most of the other pirates on the seas. Her status was gained mostly by her gung-ho, bold, and daring attitude; she is very unpredictable, confident, fearless, and has nothing to lose, making her a dangerous enemy who advanced through the ranks rather quickly. Naturally, she has the mouth of a sailor and enjoys rum and treasure, but aside from a few flirtations here and there, she isn’t in any rush to find a husband.
Kasai is extremely competitive; she hates losing (which is rare, but possible), and will always try for revenge. She has a very fiery personality, is feisty and aggressive, and often seems quite rude on first impression. The leopardess is very blunt and impulsive, but also very cunning and sneaky when she wants to be, for she does have quite the smooth tongue. When drunk, she behaves somewhat angrily and is even louder and ruder than usual, boisterously releasing her bottled emotions from her childhood, but she couldn’t really care less.
The strawberry leopardess enjoys fiddle music and loves to dance and sing. She is not afraid to beat any male who tries to make a move on her; she doesn’t fall for that “wheedling bull****”.
In addition to her love of frequent conviviality, she enjoys sword fighting, shooting, and just good old quality wrestling. Kasai is very headstrong and stubborn, and loves partaking in altercations. However, she does have brains - literature, geography and other social studies have always intrigued her, and she loves studying maps and even creating her own of the places she has visited. Writing is also done in her free time, but only when alone in her cabin, and not much. She is very secretive about it, for it is just another way for her to vent her emotions. The leopardess is also very mindful of details in all situations; oftentimes she will seem aloof and bored, but she is actually listening in carefully.
Kasai is a fiercely independent feline, often snapping at others who try to tell her how to do things that she already knows about. She likes to take things into her own paws and receive credit, but she is still equally as loyal to her crew members and would happily go down with her ship the way any good captain would.
Others often find her appearance intimidating, either because of her beauty or robustness and size, much like her ship. However, she is quite pleasant to be around (when not her enemy), laid-back about most things and just enjoying a good time aboard as they explore the ocean. Her serious side is there when needed; she’s mature enough not to let her playful side slip into grave situations.
The leopardess still wonders which of her parents she had inherited her magic from, a thought that occupies her mind often. Deep, deep down, she has a feeling that it may have been her father, a secret theory brought on by the acclamation of that old lion - Captain Fett - that she was his granddaughter, for his irises had appeared to be burning fire themselves, and the name of his ship hinted at the same. There is a constant nagging at the back of her brain about his death, a kind of grief and guilt for his passing, though she still ardently insists that she is fully leopard and feels that Captain Fett’s death had to come in honor of her first captain and best friend, Captain K’aj the jaglion.
HISTORY: Kasai doesn’t have many good childhood memories. She was raised by two older, sister lionesses, who were strangely overprotective and overbearing in Kasai’s opinion. When she was old enough to realize that it was odd that she had no father figure while other cubs did, the leopardess began to question them, though it only got her into more trouble than the mischievous cub already got herself into on a regular basis. The lioness siblings finally told her that she had been adopted by them, as she was found wandering the streets of Motley alone at a young age with no parents in sight, holding a pitiful starved and dirty appearance.
As a teen, Kasai became that stereotypical, rebellious adolescent and ran off to do as she pleased often; she felt that being in a house with two “old ladies” was “boring as hell” and annoying. Of course, she did appreciate what they had done for her, but she just wanted more of a life than they could offer her.
Eventually, she met a crew of pirates in a tavern one night and became intrigued by their picaresque lifestyle. When she found the means to pay him, Kasai spoke to a washed-up old sailor/fisherman clouded leopard who could teach her the ropes of sailing and give her her sea legs. Kasai had carried her adventurous nature into adulthood, becoming an explorer of new lands before gaining enough expertise to join a crew and become a pirate.
It came to pass that, while scouring the seas for gold and jewels and other such treasures, Kasai happened upon a lion who claimed to be her grandfather - a weathered old pirate who had attacked her smaller ship and killed her captain, whom she had been close to as a friend. She confronted him for this, but was shocked to find that he would not accept her challenge. He had said that she looked very familiar, staring at her for a long while before it came to him - she highly resembled his son.
Still angry about the murder of her captain, she fervently denied any relation to him and attacked, though he still refused to fight back. In the heat of the moment, he was slain by her, the reason being that she strongly believed that all unjust actions need equal consequences, so that her captain could be avenged.
Frightened by her audacity, the rest of his crew either abandoned ship or joined forces with her, and she became the new first mate while a new captain was appointed from the lion’s former crew. Until they gained more trust in the “leopardess”, she held this rank, but before long the entire crew fell fond of her and promoted her, though they did still grieve for the loss of their original captain. The nominated captain, a young jaguar, even encouraged her promotion, as he had developed some feelings for her. Now, with her inherited ship, sword, and hat, she conquers seaside-village after village and steals all the jewels, gold, and rum her ship can hold. Having traveled far from her former home, she has not set paw on or even seen Motley for years, but is now returning to recruit more worthy crewmen and possibly find someone to tutor her in her magic.
EQUIPMENT: Attached to the hair behind her right ear dangles two long strands of connected seashells with feathers at the bottoms. On her head she wears a large captain’s hat, made of expensive black leather, with two feathers at the front side - one red and one yellow. The larger red one curls slightly at the tip, while the yellow is smaller. Around her neck dangles a necklace with a vial containing a strange burgundy liquid, closed off by a small, brown cork. Her other jewelry includes a bead bracelet with small, sharp teeth on them, a metal anklet with a small, green jewel hanging from it, three golden hoop earrings in each ear and a metal stud earring in the left. Around her waist is a large leather belt, brown in color, which holds her sword and sheath on the right side, and her pistol and holster on the left. Her pistol is nothing special, but her sword is interesting, for the hilt is in the shape of a flying phoenix, with the blade as its tail. The blade is straight with an acutely-edged tip.
Her enormous ship, the Great Phoenix, is an impressive and daunting sight - it has large, red sails, and on the main topsail is their emblem - a huge, yellow phoenix, beak ajar in a screech, with spread wings and a sword in each taloned foot, both pointing downward to create a black ‘x’ shape with the blades. It has long crest, wing, and tail feathers, each one extending to look like flames at the ends.
The ship has four decks and six sails (including the two jibs), a large gunport holding many cannons and weapons (including a few harpoons), three masts with black pennants, and a figurehead in the shape of yet another phoenix in flight. The ship is not new, but neither is it old - it is in that perfect age of broken-in ruggedness without being so old that it is falling apart.
RELATIONSHIPS: None yet. (I’ll add to this later, if she’s accepted.)
